When the weather turns cold, so does the need for help paying winter heating bills.

mug_of_teaNew Mexico Gas Company is introducing a new heating assistance fund, called HEAT New Mexico, that will be available to help income-qualifying customers pay their heating bills this winter. This fund comes from donations from fellow customers like you who want to help New Mexicans in need. For every dollar donated to this heating assistance fund, New Mexico Gas Company will contribute $1.50, up to $150,000 this heating season. HEAT New Mexico is administered by the Salvation Army.

We hope you’ll consider contributing to this new fund so that as many people as possible can be helped to keep warm this winter. Making your tax deductible donations is easy. Simply make a notation on the payment stub of your New Mexico Gas Company bill and send your donations with your payment. Or, you can call us and pledge a donation for any amount to be added to your monthly gas bill. Thank you!

For more information on HEAT New Mexico, contact New Mexico Gas Company at 888-NM-GAS-CO (888-664-2726).

Need Help? To qualify, first apply for the Low-Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP) at any New Mexico Human Services Department office. Applications are accepted beginning in October.

Click on the LIHEAP link on the left or call New Mexico Human Service Customer Service line at 800-283-4465 for more information and for an application. Even customers who don’t qualify for LIHEAP may still be eligible for help through HEAT New Mexico.

Distribution of HEAT New Mexico funds begins on January 1st and continues as funds are available.
