New Mexico Gas Company is offering our residential customers a $200 mail-in rebate when they purchase and install a qualifying high-efficiency natural gas furnace to replace an existing furnace. High-efficiency gas furnaces are up to 15% more energy efficient than standard models — and that means lower gas bills for you and your family.
Not only do most of us heat with natural gas furnaces, they’re the single biggest user of natural gas in most homes. New Mexico Gas Company remains committed to helping you enjoy the benefits of energy-conservation in comfort and lower costs.
Look for an AFUE rating of at least 90%. The heating efficiency of various furnace models is shown in their AFUE — “Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency” — rating. An AFUE rating of 90%, as found in high-efficiency models, means that 90% of the energy in the natural gas becomes heat for your home. Old, low-efficiency furnaces typically have AFUE ratings of 68% to 72% and waste more heat energy.
Upgrading your old furnace with a new high-efficiency system can help you lower your natural gas bills — and the savings can add up over the life of your furnace!
