About NASP

The mission of the NASP is to provide financial assistance that will support post-secondary education among Native American students.  NMGC’s scholarship opportunities are afforded to Native American students residing in New Mexico who have demonstrated a desire to engage in their future through continuing education.

The New Mexico Gas Company, Inc. (NMGC) Native American Scholarship Program (NASP) is a program that is intended to assist students in pursuit of post-secondary education that may result in an Associates, Bachelors, or Masters Degree; certification from a trade school or specialized technical training associated with a license or certificate.  We have worked to ensure that the NMGC NASP guidelines will provide opportunities for all New Mexico Native American students pursuing any form of post-secondary education.  The allowance for trade school and technical training assistance is what sets this program apart from the traditional scholarship programs that exist today.  NMGC fully recognizes that in today’s workforce there is a need for trade school and technically trained personnel as well as personnel with conventional degrees.

Twenty (20) initial or renewal scholarships of $2,000.00 each will be awarded annually. Applications for scholarships will be accepted beginning April 2020. Application deadline is June 1, 2020. All applicants will be notified of the award decisions no later than the end of June 2020. Presentation of the awards will be made by the Scholarship Awards Committee at the annual Native American Scholarship Awards Banquet.
