Advanced Mobile Leak Detection

New Mexico Gas Company is committed to safe, reliable natural gas service. Part of our safety program includes using vehicle-mounted technology to patrol our natural gas system. This technology helps to determine the  location of natural gas emission sources. 

Vehicles equipped with this technology are based in communities across New Mexico, and they are used to routinely survey our system. They may also be sent to locations where the smell of natural gas has been reported or a leak is suspected.

Our routine patrols with this technology are usually conducted late at night because there’s less traffic and atmospheric conditions are more favorable for accurate detection. The vehicles are readily identifiable with New Mexico Gas Company branding and logos.
