Each year, New Mexico Gas Company invests half a million dollars in grant funding to support volunteer first responder organizations across New Mexico. We honor volunteers who risk their wellbeing to ensure that our communities are safe.

LA CIENEGA FIRE DISTRICT
La Cienega Fire District is a volunteer-driven emergency response organization located in west-central Santa Fe County dedicated to life protection, emergency medical services and community risk reduction. La Cienega Fire District’s mission is to provide compassionate, high-quality emergency services as volunteers to the people of Santa Fe County. Every Day. Every Call. La Cienega received a Helping Heroes grant in 2024 to purchase PPE for new volunteers and recruits.

MESILLA VALLEY SEARCH & RESCUE
Mesilla Valley Search and Rescue is a volunteer search and rescue organization that operates in all 33 counties throughout New Mexico—responding to search and rescue missions 24 hours a day 365 days a year. Mesilla Valley Search and Rescue operates by the motto, “So others may live.” Mesilla Valley Search and Rescue received Helping Heroes grant funding in 2024 which purchased a light-weight titanium litter system and drone to aid in rough terrain rescues. Applications for funding are open year-round and funded in two cycles. To be considered for Spring funding, please submit your application no later than February 28.
